24.5 General Performance Criteria to be used in Reviews

While person/unit-specific evaluation measures will be established as described above, the following “general criteria” should aid in the establishment of such measures:

  1. Demonstrating evidence of commitment to the highest standards of quality in teaching, scholarship/research, and academic development, with evidence given of the college’s actual progress on all three under his/her leadership.
  2. Providing effective management of the internal affairs of the college.
  3. Recruitment and retention of the highest quality administrators, faculty, staff and students.
  4. Managing the college’s fiscal affairs.
  5. Developing and maintaining open communications with all constituencies.
  6. Facilitating goal setting by individuals, programs, schools, and by the unit as a whole.
  7. Identifying issues and resolving conflicts affecting the unit.
  8. Developing internal and external resources.
  9. Implementing fair and equitable performance evaluations and salary adjustments.
  10. Establishing a working environment conducive to achieving individual and unit goals, as well as balancing and reconciling diverse interests within the unit.
  11. Building relations with constituencies within and outside Georgia Tech.
